2024 Edgewater Crew Erg-a-Thon
Edgewater Crew stands proudly among the first competitive high school rowing programs established in Florida. Since our founding in 1963 by Edgewater High School teacher Dennis Kamrad, we have trained athletes to lead their peers both on and off the water, compiling a long tradition of excellence in rowing, scholarship and citizenship.
We compete with more than 40 scholastic and club programs in Florida, and occasionally venture out of state to race teams on a national scale. Some of our athletes have gone on to row in college, and all have been served well in their adult life by the lessons of dedication and teamwork that are the heart of this sport.
On Saturday, November 23rd, we are ‘erging’ (rowing on an ergometer) to raise funds to maintain our equipment and to pay for travel to regattas so we can keep doing what we love – rowing! You are invited to visit our Boathouse and cheer me and my teammates on during this grueling (but fun!) exercise.
High school rowing is not a state-sponsored sport in Florida and must operate as a club. Our scholastic team receives no dedicated funding from the state, county or school. As a member of the team, I have been challenged to raise $300. My goal is to row 10,000 meters, and I need your help.
Please sponsor me at one of the following levels:
- 0.0025¢ per meter completed – total $25
- 0.005¢ per meter completed – total $50
- 0.01¢ per meter completed – total $100
Edgewater Crew operates under Orlando Rowing Association which is a 501(c)(3) charitable, educational, non-profit corporation, so your donation may be tax deductible.
