Edgewater Crew stands proud among the first programs that established competitive rowing for high school students in Florida. Since our founding 53 years ago by EHS teacher Dennis Kamrad, we have trained athletes to lead their peers both on and off the water compiling a long tradition of excellence in rowing, scholarship and citizenship.

We compete with more than 40 other school and club programs in Florida, and occasionally venture out of state to race teams on a regional and national scale. Some of our athletes have gone on to row in college, and all have been served well in their adult life by the lessons of dedication and teamwork that are the heart of this sport.

We invite any student who is eligible to participate in Edgewater High School athletics to give rowing a try. Boys and girls of any size are welcome and no athletic experience is required. No one is 'cut'; if a student has the determination to train, we make a place for him/her on the team to race.

Rowing operates as a club sport at the high school level; therefore our team gets no dedicated funding from the state, county or school. There is a financial obligation to participate, however we give students at least 2 weeks to try our program at no cost, and there are numerous opportunities to generate funds to offset dues and fees.

Orlando Rowing Association is a 501, (c)(3) charitable, educational, non-profit corporation made up of Edgewater Crew parents which provides all administrative, financial and logistical support to the team. ORA also conducts fundraising operations while soliciting donations and grants which are put to good use with NO administrative overhead.
