Edgewater Crew stands proud among the first programs that established competitive rowing for high school students in Florida. Since our founding 54 years ago by EHS teacher Dennis Kamrad, we have trained athletes to lead their peers both on and off the water compiling a long tradition of excellence in rowing, scholarship and citizenship.

We compete with more than 40 other school and club programs in Florida, and occasionally venture out of state to race teams on a regional and national scale. Some of our athletes have gone on to row in college, and all have been served well in their adult life by the lessons of dedication and teamwork that are the heart of this sport.

We invite any student who is eligible to participate in Edgewater High School athletics to give rowing a try. Boys and girls of any size are welcome and no athletic experience is required. No one is 'cut'; if a student has the determination to train, we make a place for him/her on the team to race.

Rowing operates as a club sport at the high school level; therefore our team gets no dedicated funding from the state, county or school. There is a financial obligation to participate, however we give students at least 2 weeks to try our program at no cost, and there are numerous opportunities to generate funds to offset dues and fees.

Orlando Rowing Association is a 501, (c)(3) charitable, educational, non-profit corporation made up of Edgewater Crew parents which provides all administrative, financial and logistical support to the team. ORA also conducts fundraising operations while soliciting donations and grants which are put to good use with NO administrative overhead.

Head Race season wrapup Edgewater had its most successful Head Race season in years this fall with 6 gold medals, 3 silver and 2 bronze spread over the Gator Head race in Gainesville and the Head of the South in Augusta GA. The Boys Varsity8 brought home a shiny Gator trophy for winning their race in Gainesville, and combined with the girls to make a Mixed8 that won the field in Georgia. Novices to debut December 9 We have added the December 9 Plant Invite in Tampa to our regatta schedule and our 1st year rowers will get their 1st taste of racing. New rowers are still welcome to join - there is still time to be ready for the sprint racing season in February.

Junior Eagles planning next season
Our Middle School program wrapped up its 10th Fall season and planning is underway for 2018. We expect to announce a January starting date soon. Newcomers from any middle school are welcome to practice on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Edgewater Masters growth continues
Our adult rowing program roster is nearing 30 members and continues training on Tuesday and Thursday evenings until the holidays. In January we start aiming for the bulk of our racing season and build for competing at the World Masters championships at Sarasota in October. Click on the Masters button for details. Adults of any age and experience level are welcome to join.
